Bad, Bad, Bloggers!

We have been so terrible in neglecting our blog the month of January.  We still have a number of sessions from December and January we need to share, but, in the meantime...

We've been enjoying a little time off during the slow-er season, and thought we would share a few images from our New Year's camping trip.

This was a first for us, and we're looking forward to heading back out to the desert again next year!

Happy Desert Doggie!

Happy Friends!

Happy Little Camerman!

Happiest Jackson!

Happy Me! Happier if it were sunset, rather than sunrise...but hey, that's camping, right?

12.13.08 - Cecilia & Ben

We have been very, very bad bloggers as we wrap up the busy 2008 season, but all the better for a fun January as we can get back to blogging as we should!

Our last wedding of the year was an intimate affair at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Ben and Ceci were married under some stormy skies and blustery winds, but Ceci's smile was bright enough to warm the crowd. Unfortunately, rain clouds forced our portrait session to a quick ending, but we had some fun inside the Bayside restaurant's main hall, which was all decorated for the holiday.

Enjoy and Happy New Year!

Holiday Portrait Special!!!

St Mark's Preschool Fundraiser

Last weekend, the studio hosted a fundraiser for Jackson's school - St. Mark's Lutheran Preschool. We had a great time with the super-fun families who took advantage of the chance to get great holiday images, and support a cause close to their heart...their kiddos. Below are a mix of some of our favorites. If you know these families, check your mailbox soon for the greeting cards we'll be designing for them to share their holiday spirit. Thank you for taking part of our fun, family fundraiser! Enjoy!

10.25.08 - Jacqueline & Kenneth

Jacqueline & Kenneth couldn't be more in love, and both of them have the most amazing smiles that they save just for each other. And a bonus for us, these two were definitely in the mood to take some pictures! After a brief romp around USD for some family and wedding party photos, we headed downtown for a little additional portrait fun before the reception.

Seeing as these two and many of their friends are Michigan State alumni, it was fitting that their team pulled through on the wedding day, beating University of Michigan soundly.

The fabulous Dennis Bergstrom of BEntertained was ready with the Michigan State fight sound for the grand entrance.

Enjoy!

Ceremony: The amazing Immaculata Parish at USD.

Reception: San Diego Wine & Culinary Center.

10.03.08 - Joanna & Jeff

Joanna & Jeff celebrated their one month anniversary yesterday...congrats you two! And they were so very happy when they came in for their viewing session last week. We've designed a gorgeous album that they'll have in their hot little hands for Christmas.

Their wedding day was absolutely beautiful and these two are a joy to photograph as they trust us completely. Our favorite image from their wedding required a little extra effort from them, and Joanna, we so appreciate you overcoming your fear of spiders. HeeHee!

Enjoy!

Ceremony and Reception: One of our favorite locations with a wonderful staff. Rancho Valencia

10.4.08 Wedding – Stephanie & Aren

OK, so, bad bloggers again…we haven’t even had a chance to post Stephanie and Aren’s Engagement session, but since we’re completely out of order anyway, I figure, what the heck…we’ll put up a few teasers from the wedding and then go backward in time.

October is by far one of the most beautiful months of the year here, and we love fall weddings.  Stephanie and Aren were married on a fluke cold and rainy-ish October day.  It was sunny, then cloudy, then gray, then sprinkly, then dark,  But if it hadn’t rained, we wouldn’t have been able to capture some very romantic images of these two when we played with a favorite prop we rarely use here in Sunny San Diego…the umbrella.

A little wedding day rain is supposed to be good luck, and these two and their families were in smiles all day.  Congratulations Stephanie and Aren!

9.6.08 Wedding - Jennifer & Paul

Jennifer and Paul are rock stars.  After their awesome engagement session (see the post below) we knew their wedding would be full of style and sass; and they didn't let us down.

A little getting ready at the private residence used to host the reception, a quick ride down to Windansea for an intimate ceremony, a stop off for some nighttime photos in a beautifully lit alley in La Jolla, and an intimate and elegant cocktail party including fresh sushi and the most wonderfully yummy-lookin' little hors d'oeuvres.

Enjoy!  And congratulations Jennifer & Paul.

9.6.08 Engagement - Jennifer & Paul

Jennifer and Paul were married in September, and we waited to blog their wedding images until they returned from their African safari since their internet access was, well…limited while out in the bush..

And, again, bad bloggers we are, we haven’t even gotten their ridiculously fun engagement session images posted. So,,,here goes.

A little background for you; Jennifer and Paul can be considered well-rounded.  When we chatted about what they might like to do for their engagement session, they explained that they were just as likely do take a 10-mile hike as go wine tasting, so it was very fun narrowing down a location where we could create images that would really capture their essence.  So, after much discussion, we landed on two very fun concepts, both a little retro with a little theatrics.

First – off to The Pearl in Point Loma.  This funky hotel has a 60’s vibe and since we knew Paul was a James Bond fan, we went for the Goldfinger pool scene.

Then, off to Santa Fe Depot downtown, for a little travel theme continuing the 60s vibe.  So very much fun, but, enough talking, more pictures!

10.3.08 Engagement - Joanna & Jeff

Joanna & Jeff were married last weekend at the beautiful Rancho Valencia Resort in Rancho Santa Fe, and we are such bad bloggers that we still haven't had a chance to post their engagement photos from early this season. We have to post those before we blog their wedding, of course!

We also created a guest signing book/engagement album for them that was a HUGE hit at the wedding. Below is a link to a slideshow of their album. www.studioduvagallery.com/sneakpeeks/joannajeffengalbum

Check back next week to see a sneak peek of their wedding images. Congratulations Joanna & Jeff!

9.13.08 - Rene' & Judith

"We're Legal!"  That's the phrase imprinted on Rene' and Judy's personalized wedding M&M's.  These two lovely ladies said they would tie the knot when it would be official and legal; and their intimate ceremony and reception was a perfect way to share their joy.

Justin and I had so much fun with these two ladies who are very much in love, and their guests were so very happy to see them married under the chuppah held by family and friends.

Enjoy, and Congratulations Rene' & Judy!

Ceremony:Private Residence

Catering:Authentic Flavors Custom Catering

Judy and Rene' had matching pendants made from family jewelry pieces.  There was one for each lady, and another for their beautiful daughter.

EXTRA! EXTRA! Jessica & Cory Featured in U-T

Friday's San Diego Union-Tribune featured the newspaper's bi-annual wedding magazine Weddings San Diego. This Fall/Winter issue featured Jessica and Cory's wedding July 15, 2007.

We enjoyed every minute working with Jessica and Cory from their fun engagement session in Little Italy, to Jessica's sassy boudior (her surprise wedding gift to Cory), and the big day at beautiful Cuvier Park and the La Jolla Financial Building.

You can see more of their engagement and wedding photos in our Engagement and Wedding galleries at www.studioduva.com

Congratulations, Jessica and Cory!

Cover image is not a Studio Duva image, but is posted for identification of the magazine only.

8.31.08 - Laura & Derek

Laura & Derek hosted a beautiful wedding starting first at Laura’s church in El Cajon, and ending at the Holiday Inn by the Bay, with a quick stop just before dark at Balboa Park.

I love the colors of the church décor, and the reception was so much fun.  With 320 guests, Laura and Derek’s celebration was definitely the largest wedding we have photographed, and the coolest thing about Laura’s culture is that all of the guests are invited to come up onto the dance floor to greet the bride and groom upon their Grand Entrance.    So fun!

Enjoy the images, and check back later for some fellow vendor updates.

Congratulations Laura and Derek!

8.30.08 - Arlene & Brian

Ceremony:Marston Gardens

Reception:Tom Ham's Lighthouse

We have had such a wonderful time with Arlene and Brian, from our first meeting to their engagement session around downtown Solana beach to their awesome wedding Labor Day weekend.

This was the first time we have had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at the Marston House Gardens in Balboa Park, and we could have stayed there all day taking fantastic images of these two.  Alas, the party at Tom Ham's Lighthouse awaited, and oh my, was it fun.

Congratulations Arlene and Brian!
